–Eat generously. Endurance athletes need to consume a consistent number of calories to support their intense exertion and aid in recovery.
–Eat protein and fat. Athletes should consume quality sources of protein and fat with every meal. Examples include nuts, seeds, avocados, and healthy oils (not vegetable or processed oils).
–Make sure carbohydrates are nutritious. Endurance athletes should avoid an excess of avoid pasta, bread, and starchy carbohydrates and instead choose those that are more nutritious, such as amaranth and quinoa, as well as fruits and vegetables.
